Manel Msalmi

Advisory Board Member & Founder and president of the European Association for the Defense of Minorities

Manel Msalmi is a researcher in environmental humanities, American studies and international politics specializing in MENA affairs, climate change and gender equality. She has collaborated with the European Commission, European Parliament and UNESCO on environmental issues, women’s leadership and counter-extremism initiatives. Based in Brussels, she advises European parliamentarians on MENA policy, gender equality and radicalization prevention while actively engaging in interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding initiatives across Europe and the Middle East.

Msalmi is the founder and president of the European Association for the Defense of Minorities and previously served as president of the Liberal Women Section in Brussels. She has spoken at the United Nations, Cambridge University and international forums advocating for women’s rights, minority protections and peace in the Middle East.

She regularly organises so many conferences on Women’s rights and minority issues in parliaments including the Italian and the Greek Parliament and universities mainly French and Italian ones such as Paris School of Business.

She is the author of The Iranian Project in the Middle East and Female Leadership in Peace and Security in the NGO sector.She currently researches international relations and diplomacy at the American University in Paris. In 2025, she received the Global Peace Building Award.
